Rahman awarded NDTV Indian of the year

MUMBAI: NDTV's Indian of the Year for music honour has been bestowed on A R Rahman, at a function held on Thursday.

Rahman, who was unable to attend the ceremony, sent a pre-recorded acceptance speech. The composer scored the music for Shekhar Kapoor's Elizabeth: The Golden Age in 2007, as well as composed the music for films including Mani Ratnam's Guru, Provoked and Sivaji-The Boss.

He was also felicitated by the Limca Book of Records in 2007, as one of its eminent 'People of the Year'.

Rahman has also composed music for Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar, which is due for release on 15 February 2008. The composer now has plans to open a music conservatory that will offer a holistic program in muisc and music technology.
