Radio Tarang's license revoked on 17 July

New Delhi: The government on 17 July revoked the licence to Radio Tarang, the Hissar based FM radio station in Haryana as it has not submitted the requisite bank guarantee and has been non-operational since 12 September last year.

The action has been taken under Clause 25.1.2 of the Grant of Permission Agreement (GOPA), ministry sources said.

A show-cause notice had been issued to M/s Singla Property Dealers Pvt. Ltd asking why action should not be initiated against them for violation of GOPA.

No reply was received to the notice issued under Clause 25.3.1 of GOPA for violation of Agreement, say sources.

Under the licensing rules, any channel that has been non-operational for more than six months is liable to have its licence revoked.
