Radio One weekly BBC Ek Mulaqat returns

MUMBAI : Radio One FM 94.3`s BBC Ek Mulaqat, the weekly chat show will return on 10 June with an in-depth interview with young Indian Tennis icon, Sania Mirza for its second series. The series will feature a fresh line up of guests including telecom magnate Sunil Bharti Mittal, politicians Milind Deora, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Omar Abdullah, legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

In a recently held radio awards at India Radio Forum 2007, BBC Ek Mulaqat was named the `Most Innovative Show`. Show`s host and BBC Hindi India Editor, Sanjeev Srivastava, said: "It is very gratifying to have won this award which recognises the BBC`s contribution on the radio platform. It is a great credit to the BBC team`s efforts in putting together the show. For me, it has been an interesting journey discovering the personal, lesser-known side to many well-known faces from politics, sport, entertainment, arts and business."

Radio One`s VP, Programming and Brand, Vishnu Athreya, added: "We are thrilled to have won this award, which is recognition for the creative programming that the Radio One and BBC partnership brings on-air. It`s great to see differentiated programming like this awarded at the IRF, and it is a boost to Radio One`s policy to constantly reinvent itself."

Ek Mulaqat`s first series featured an interesting mix of guests including L.K Advani, Sheila Dikshit, Irfan Pathan, Preity Zinta, Laloo Prasad Yadav, Sharad Pawar, Baba Ramdev, Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri, Ghulam Ali, Kapil Dev, Amar Singh, Ram Jethmalani, Javed Akhtar, Vasundhara Raje and Mani Shankar Aiyar.
