Radio Misty empowers listeners to make their own station

MUMBAI: Radio Misty has launched a survey that will help its tailor its content for the upcoming station at Gangtok, Sikkim.

Listeners can call, sms, mail, write letters or visit the Misty studio at Chingapa house in Gangtok and convey their preferences for what they want to listen on air. The motive of the survey is to gauge the music preference of the people as well as their choice of other content .This research will throw up interesting results on listener preferences and choices about radio, believe Misty officials.

Says Misty's CEO Nishant Mittal, We are positioning our station for local people, local voice, local station and local choice. It's a station for the people, so listeners will decide the show and music we will play. This is a unique and innovative move to connect with local listeners. This will empower people by taking into account their choices & preferences on music and content of their own radio station."

Radio Misty, which is aired in the 94.3 MHz in Siliguri, has been allotted change in frequency in Sikkim. Radio Misty, due to its location, can be very well heard in Sikkim from Siliguri. With the same frequency in both cities, airwaves from both stations will be overlapping, making it difficult to catch the frequency of the station in Gangtok. Misty had applied for a change in the frequency, which was granted. Sikkim listeners will be in a unique position - they will be able to tune in to two different Misty channels, one aired from Siliguri and the other from Gangtok.

Misty claims to have big marketing plans in Sikkim titled 'Green and Clean Sikkim'. The total theme of the campaign will be 'eco friendliness'. The station also plans to get celebrities from Hollywood and the Hindi film industry to perform at Sikkim.
