Radio Mirchi's RJ Anmol culminates 'Bus Itna Sa Khwab Hai'

MUMBAI: Taking its listeners on a dream journey to relive some bollywood moments, Radio Mirchi had initiated the ‘Bus Itna Sa Khwab Hai’ activity on its late night show with RJ Anmol. The four week property culminated recently, with the legendary composer duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal.

The musical extravaganza gave listeners the opportunity to relive the moments of the composer duo. Pyarelal shared interesting and unheard aspects of his professional and personal life through a live show on the bus.

The unique initiative commenced on 7 December with the legendary superstar Dev Anand which was followed by other stalwarts like Raj Kapoor and Mohd Rafi, culminating it with a tribute to the composers Laxmikant-Pyarelal. Taking listeners to various locales that were part of their daily lives and conversing with their family and other close associates, RJ Anmol brought forth the enigma of the music and movie virtuosos.

Commenting on the initiative, RJ Anmol said, “This idea was on my mind since five years where an RJ hosts a show while travelling in the city with listeners. I am glad to be the first RJ in the country to execute this on-air with my team and listeners. 'Bus Itna Sa khwab Hai' is an initiative to explore the lives of these retro stars. Every week we gave our listeners once in a life time opportunity to live life of one of their favourite artists by being in the same space where these legends lived or worked. This is unarguably the first time in the history of radio industry that a show was conducted live on the move, hopping from one locale to another. I promise to offer more similar opportunity in the coming days.”

While listeners got the chance to visit Dev Anand’s office in Khar and were exhibited with his life story and the various gifts he received from fans, they explored the historic RK Studio of Raj Kapoor including the set of the movie Awara and his statue at Bandstand.

Commemorating the birth anniversary of Mohd Rafi, the radio jock visited the Rafi mansion giving listeners a view of all the trophies that he was awarded for his astounding contribution to the music industry. Proceeding to Naushadji’s mansion, they also got an opportunity to interact with Raju Naushad who shared stories about his father’s association with Rafi.

The grand finale of the initiative featured the journey commencing from Pyarelal’s ‘mohalla’ of early days where his journey into the musical industry begun. The composer joined in the journey and shared unheard stories about his earlier days with fans and played the violin. They also toured Mehmoob studio including the recording studio of the duo and the day also marked Pyarelel’s entry into the studio after nearly three decades. Noted musician Salim Merchant from the duo Salim-Sulaiman joined the endeavour paying tribute to the duo.
