MUMBAI: To widen its reach, Radio Mango, FM venture from the Malayala Manorama group, has rolled out Mango Mobile in partnership with Idea Cellular.

Through the service, mobile customers can access to Radio Mango from places that are out of its coverage area like Thiruvananthapuram , Palghat, Kasargode, Kollam and Patthinamthita. Listeners can dial 59190 and subscribe to Mango Mobile for Rs 30  monthly. Radio Mango is the first private FM station in Kerala with stations in Kochi, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Radio Mango director programmes Ravi Nair said, “The main idea behind Mango Mobile was to reach places with limited radio coverage. Kerala has avid music listeners and with this service we intend to extend our reach, providing advertisers an opportunity to invest in the service. We are happy to partner with Idea for the venture.”

While the service is restricted to Kerala, Nair states that there are plans of expanding it across the country by year-end. “We wish to provide millions of malayali diaspora the opportunity to listen to Radio Mango. Depending on the response that we receive, we may extend the service in South followed by pan-India by end of this year.”

The service is promoted through various media platforms like print, radio and online.

The service is powered by Spice Digital that deploys music-on-demand services for Indian & International operators along with mobile streaming in its product portfolio.

In 2010, Entertainment Network (India) Ltd (ENIL) which runs private FM radio brand popularly known as Radio Mirchi had launched Mirchi Mobile in partnership with Bharti Airtel.
