Radio Indigo ties for Akon, other intl artists lined up

MUMBAI: Known for its international niche content, Bangalore based Radio Indigo is airing a contest in association with Universal Music. The content avails the Bengalureans a chance to meet the international singer Akon in Kuala Lumpur and watch him live on 2nd July.

To avail this opportunity, the listeners have to answer questions on Akon quizzed on the station throughout the day. Callers with correct answers would be shortlisted and the selected two winners of the finale will also get to interact with the singer personally apart from watching his live gig.

Radio Indigo sales director Nabhojit Kuila says, This is the third contest this year that radio indigo is running to send listeners overseas to an international event. It's our endeavor to bring these events closer to Bangalore and give our listeners a chance to get out of their offices and party internationally as well.... Jet Airways would fly the winners of the Akon contest to Malaysia. The station has also tied up with Marriot hotels for providing a luxury accommodation for the winners.

Last year the station had sent two Bengalureans to travel to London for Hyde Park Concert and meet Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. It had also sent one of its listeners to an all expense paid Formula 1 weekend to Monza, Italy.

Continuing with its international endeavors this year, the station is also planning to send two winners this August to London for the U2 concert. They would also be sending two lucky winners for the Grand Prix, Singapore in September. Additionally a special contest would be held every month wherein a couple can win a fully paid abroad trip to the destination of their choice.

Our listener base has international exposure and hence hosting such contest fits our bill. Cash bait contests are done to death now. Hence we have come up with such innovative contests to grab the listener's attention and keep them glued to the station.... explains Kuila.
