Radio City to stir and shuffle weekend content

Mumbai: Radio City plans to revamp its existing weekend programming line up across the Hindi speaking cities, where it operates.

Seven new shows, on humour, romance, showbiz and Bollywood are being introduced. Three programmes on Saturday and four on Sunday have been planned. A weekly recap of top 20 songs, the Udham Singh Show in desi Haryanvi, a weekend special programme on behind the scene gossip, grapevine and glamour from the entertainment world and other programmes will be aired this weekend onwards.
Commenting on the new line-up, Radio City CEO Apurva Purohit says, "After creating a clear differentiation with our adult contemporary music, we are making our weekend programming more robust through an entertaining mix of genre-based shows. Shows like The Udham Singh Show and others will revitalise evenings on weekend radio with a gripping format, differential content coupled with melodious music."

In the classical segment, the company is set to promote both vocal and instrumental catalogues this quarter, including an album featuring the flute. Four catalogues would be released in the classical segment by the label. In addition, two to three pop albums would also be released too in this quarter featuring different artistes.

The programmes are set to give a boost to Radio City in all spheres, "While this gives our listener wholesome entertainment throughout the weekend, the advertiser also gets a wider spread of properties to associate with," says Purohit in a release.
