Radio City launches 'City ki Awaaz' in Lucknow

MUMBAI: After 'Suron ka Sartaj' in Ahmedabad and Pune, Radio City has taken its singing talent hunt 'City Ki Awaaz' to Lucknow from 25 August.

The show auditions are open from 25 – 29 August. Participants can participate by calling the radio station or by dropping recorded CDs at the station office. The winner stands to win a cash prize of Rs 25,000.

The top five finalists will be selected by 30 August. From 1 September, each of the finalists will go live on 'Whatte Fun Mornings' with RJ Vera and RJ Meenu will connect with each participant's friends, family and loved ones taking them live on-air on her show Joyride.

Lucknow's renowned names from the music field will also pay surprise visits on-air to champion for their favourite contestants.

The round of SMS-voting will conclude with the finale on 12 September when the five finalists will be judged by a panel of celebrity judges in front of a live audience and Lucknow's City Ki Aawaaz'' will be crowned.

Sharing his thoughts on this endeavour, Radio City's executive VP national programming and marketing head Rana Barua said, "Lucknow is the culturally vibrant hot-seat of Uttar Pradesh. Rich with heritage and modern yet traditional at the same time, this blossoming city is known for its classical musical roots. Radio City has always been known to lead when it comes to music and introducing unique, innovative initiatives. As Lucknow city's melody FM station, we are proud present 'City Ki aawaaz' which promises a well-deserved platform to showcase Lucknow's upcoming musical talent."

Lucknow Radio City 'City Ki Aawaaz' is supported by a robust hi-decibel promotional campaign comprising extensive outdoors, on-air and ground support. The station has tied up with Lucknow's most renowned music school – Bhatkhande Sangeet Mahavidyalaya for the hunt.
