Pt Ronu Majumdar to perform at Bombay Jazz Tour

Mumbai: Ace flautist Pandit Ronu Majumdar will play along with Saxophone exponent George Brooks and guitarist Larry Coryell at the Bombay Jazz Tour being held in the UK from 12 to 27 October 2007.

The high-profile event has been organised by UK`s leading promoter of Asian music, the Asian Music Circuit.

Bombay Jazz, a dynamic blend of two of the finest traditions of music - jazz and Indian classical music, explores the melodic richness of raga and the dynamic rhythmic interplay that is common to both Indian classical music and jazz, while pioneering a harmonic exploration rarely heard in East - West fusions of any kind.

Grammy nominee Pt Majumdar, who is equally at ease in his pure Indian classical music as he is in jazz with fantastic bamboo flute technique carries with him huge experience after having performed with Pandit Ravi Shankar, George Harrison and Ry Cooder in the past.

At the Bombay Jazz Tour, Majumdar shares the honour of performing with Living Legend Guitarist Larry Coryell from USA who has worked with several Indian musicians and has done a mammoth amount of work with Zakir Hussain and L Subramaniam.

Says Majumdar, "I want to popularise Indian Bansuri in the World of Jazz and Blues through the World Music. Therefore this is a great occasion to be associated with Living Legend Larry Coryell, one of the greatest Guitarist the world has ever seen, and the Saxophone Exponent George Brooks, who will also add a great amount of depth. We look forward to mesmerize the Audience of Britain through our Bombay Jazz Group".
