Psy wins four Mnet Asian Music Awards

MUMBAI:  Korean YouTube sensation Psy (aka Park Jae-sang) won four Mnet Asian Music awards (MAMA) for his hit ‘Gangnam Style’. The award ceremony was held on Friday 30 November in Hong Kong.

Psy won in categories including Song of the Year, Best Music Video, Best Dance Performance and Global Favourite Artist for his song that has garnered more than 850 million hits on YouTube.

Psy even gave a performance of his hit ‘Gangnam Style’. “I’m happy. I was happy yesterday, I’m happy today, and I will be happy tomorrow. I’m living a dream right now. I cannot break this record forever I think, unless I do naked video or something,” Psy said at the post-show press conference.

The show was broadcast live to 16 countries and will be aired in 69 countries reaching 2.3 billion viewers globally.

Organized by Korean company, CJ Entertainment, MAMA was envisioned as an Asian music awards show that travels from city to city. This is the first year MAMA was held in Hong Kong. MAMA grew out of the Mnet KM Music Festival, a celebration of Korean music that started in 1999.
