Priyanka Chopra's single 'Exotic' chosen as theme song for 2013 GIC

NEW DELHI: Singer Priyanka Chopra’s debut single “Exotic” featuring Pitbull will be featured throughout the 2013 Guinness International Champions Cup (GIC) as the soccer tournament’s official theme song.

The announcement was made by Relevent Sports, a division of RSE Ventures and the organiser of the Guinness International Champions Cup, in conjunction with Interscope Geffen A&M and Universal Music.

Chopra, a critically acclaimed Bollywood actress and winner of the 2000 Miss World pageant, is diving into the international music scene with her new album featuring the high-energy, infusion pop, and dance track “Exotic” which includes vocals from international musical sensation, Pitbull.

Before her foray into music, Chopra appeared in over 40 films; she also writes columns for Indian national newspapers and was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Child Rights and Adolescents in 2010. A life-long soccer fan, Chopra’s musical partnership with the Guinness International Champions Cup is the latest development in her successful, international career. Chopra’s “Exotic” video featuring Pitbull premiered on VEVO last week.  .

The Guinness International Champions Cup, organized by Relevent Sports, a division of RSE Ventures, and broadcast by FOX, is the first-of-its-kind soccer tournament taking place across the globe with contests in Phoenix, San Francisco, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, New York, Miami and Valencia, Spain. Eight teams are taking part in the tournament including club teams from Spain, Italy, England and the United States. 

“We could not be more thrilled about the exceptional list of world class teams playing in this year’s tournament,” said Relevent Sports CEO Charlie Stillitano. “This is a landmark event in soccer and Priyanka’s debut single “Exotic” brings to life the spirit of the tournament.”

The tournament will kick off on 27 July in Valencia, Spain and will be contested over seven days at six marquee venues across the United States, with semi-finals at Met Life Stadium and Dodger Stadium on 3 and 4 August.. In the United States, the host cities are University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, AZ – Opening Round Host; AT&T Park, San Francisco, CA – Opening Round Host; Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, IN – Opening Round Host; Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, CA – Semifinal Host; Met Life Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ – Semifinal Host; and Sun Life Stadium, Miami Gardens, FL – Finals Host.

On 6 and 7 August, the tournament will culminate as the eight participating teams gather at Miami’s Sun Life Stadium to compete for the championship. Throughout the tournament, fans from around the world will hear Chopra’s billboard hit and Guinness International Champions Cup theme song, “Exotic.”
