MUMBAI: Honouring the blues music in conjunction with Black History Month, US president Barack Obama hosted a series of jazz, Latin and country music performances at White House on Tuesday 21 February. The concert featured noted blues legends including Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, B.B. King and Buddy Guy. President Obama also showed off his musical skills by trading lyrics with the legendary B.B.King on the blues classic 'Sweet Home Chicago' which was dedicated to Obama's adopted hometown. Obama said, “As we celebrate Black History Month, the blues reminds us that we've been through tougher times before. That's why I'm proud to have these artistes here, not just as a fan but also as the president.” Last month Obama also vocal brief rendition of the R&B classic ‘Let's Stay Together’ at a campaign event, gaining millions of hits on YouTube. The blues concert will be part of the ‘In Performance at the White House’ series which will be first broadcasted on Monday on the Public Broadcasting Service and later on American Forces Network.
