MUMBAI: Planet Radio City has entered its second south Indian market by launching a new web radio station- Radio City Malayalam. The station went live on 19 January.

The station asserts that the online portal will cater to the strong fan-base of regional music lovers on the internet, across the world. Radio City digital media and new business, business head and SVP Rachna Kanwar said, “Ever since we launched our first regional web radio station, we have been flooded with requests for more regional content on our portal. Internet trends show a great demand for Malayalam tracks all over the world. For us, Radio City Malayalam marks a foray into a hitherto untouched territory – Malayalam music. We hope to touch-base with Malayalam music fans all over the world through this effort."

Popular Malayalam tracks like Ente Ellaam Ellaam (MeeshaMadhavan), Chandanacholayil (Sallapam), Vaathililaavaathilil (Ustad Hotel) are some of the tracks that make up the initial playlist. The network stated that the highly rated movie songs across years find their place of pride in the playlist.

In July last year, it ventured into the regional space by starting its first regional web radio stream – Radio City Tamil. Apart from the regional stations, the network has five other stations namely Fun ka Antenna, Freedom, Indipop, Hindi and Smaran.
