Pepsi offers free song downloads on Twitter

MUMBAI: PepsiCo Inc has kick-started its first global campaign ‘Live for Now’ in partnership with social networking site Twitter. As part of the campaign, the company is offering free song downloads on its Twitter page.

The songs from Amazon.com’s MP3 store will be selected on the basis of a video summary posted by Pepsi every week. The summary of music news will be based on an analysis of trending topics on Twitter. Followers can include a Pepsi hashtag in the tweet to get the song and also change the track list of the concert by tweeting the names of the songs they want played.

The tie-up will also enable live streaming of concerts on the site from June. The company has partnered with pop stars like Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry for its global marketing campaign.

PepsiCo Beverages global head of digital Shiv Singh said, “The videos will give visitors the pulse on what’s happening in music.”

The first ‘Live for Now’ ad spot aired on 7 May across US featuring Minaj’s hit single ‘Moment 4 Life’. The multi-year campaign will roll-out globally throughout 2012.
