MUMBAI: Lending a helping hand to children suffering from Thalassemia, legendary ghazal maestro Pankaj Udhas will perform a live charity concert 'Moments with Pankaj Udhas’ on 16 June at the Nehru Centre Auditorium in Mumbai.
The concert will witness renditions of his unreleased ghazals from forthcoming projects along with popular ghazals and nazms from his new album 'Moments with Pankaj Udhas’. The ghazal 'Dukh Sukh Tha Ek Sab Ka', penned by noted poet Janaab Zafar Gorakhpuri, will also be rendered by the singer during the event. He has also prepared a special medley comprising of ten of his most popular Bollywood songs and ghazals.
Supported by Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan, the fundraiser concert will also witness the presence of State Health Minister Suresh Shetty.
Speaking on the album Udhas said, “I am associated with Parents Association Thalassemic Unit Trust for the last 25 years. Since the time I saw these children suffering, I took a keen interest to understand the problems and difficulties faced by them and their parents. It is reported that about 1 lakh people suffer from Thalassemia Major and this rate is growing by 10-12 per cent every year and the medical care for Thalassemic envisages a cost ranging from Rs 1.2 lakhs to Rs 2 lakhs per patient each year.”
