Oscar: The King's Speech wins laurels, Rahman misses out

MUMBAI: Tom Hooper's The King's Speech stole the show at the Oscar Awards ceremony, but India's AR Rahman failed to win.

The King's Speech took home four awards, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Directing and Best Actor in a Leading Role (Colin Firth).
 
Christopher Nolan's Inception also bagged four awards, winning laurels for Best Cinematography, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing and Best Visual Effects.

The Social Network , a film based on Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook, won for best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing and Best Original Score.

Meanwhile, Christian Bale pocketed the Academy award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his part in The Fighter. The film also helped Melissa Leo bag the award for the Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

Natalie Portman got the Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in Black Swan.
 
Toy Story 3 bagged the award for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Song, while Alice in Wonderland got the award for Best Art Direction (Production design and set decoration) and Best Costume Design.

The Best Make Up award was given to Rick Baker and Dave Elsey for The Wolfman. The Best Documentary (Feature) award went to Charles Ferguson and Audrey Marrs' Inside Job while the Best Documentary (short subject) was won by Karen Goodman and Kirk Simon for Strangers No More.

The best Foreign Language Film award went to the Denmark film In a Better World.

Though AR Rahman was nominated in the original score and original song category for the movie 127 Hours, he failed to make it to the winning list.
