Child Rights is one major issue, which needs immediate addressal looking into the large number of high-risk children flocking in and around Siliguri.. The translation of the Juvenile Justice Act into the government system is still in the first stage in Darjeeling District. The Child Welfare Committee was set up in April 2008 wherein the Juvenile Justice Act dates back to 2000. Juvenile Justice Board was formed on Nov 13th 2008, it is just a day old today. With Child Rights accountability just taking shape, most children in need of care and protection are left without it. Child In Need Institute in partnership with GOAL India has been working in this field for the last 3 years by providing an array of services to underprivileged and vulnerable

Children ranging from education to protection to health. More than 400 children from Khalpara and Kulipara areas have been mainstreamed into formal schools and more than 350 high-risk children have been reached out through rescue and restoration component.
