Ninaad Music promotes north Indian music with `Thumri Katha`

MUMBAI: Ninaad Music, audio label company, has launched a romantic album Thumri Katha, which has been sung by composer, linguist, scholar, writer and musicologist Satyasheel Deshpande .

Thumri Katha is a first in a series of its kind and is an attempt to showcase the enchanting, addictive art form of north Indian music. Hindi film Actress Juhi Chawla, along with celebrities like Padmini Kohlapure, Gautam Rajadhyaksha and Bharati Pradhan were present to unveil the album.

A mix of seven compositions, the album incudes; Aeji Sanvare, Three Moods of Kaafi, Jal Jamuna, Chale Jae ho Bedarda, Dagar Mori Chhando, Lag Gai Chot and Ras Ke Bhare Tore Nain through which the singer unfolds the various facets of Thumri as a genre.

Satyasheel Deshpande, son of scholar and musicologist Shri Vamanrao Deshpande and foremost disciple of the legendary Pt. Kumar Gandharva has won innumerable scholarships and accolades for his performances in India and across the globe. He is well known not only for his contribution to Indian Classical music, but also for his film songs sung along with legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar.

He has also established The Samvaad Foundation in Mumbai which is one of a kind archive of Hindustani Music of over 10, 000 hours of recorded audio, says the release.
