MUMBAI: Its destination Amanora Park, Pune, for city based pop- rock band Modern Mafia who has won the bindass Rest Less band hunt’ for the upcoming third Bacardi NH7 Weekender that will be held from 2-4 November. A total of 60 bands will play across six stages at the three-day music fest.

The competition saw over 50 bands from Mumbai and Pune applying and four acts- Drawing Short Straws, The Fringe, The Riot peddlers and Modern Mafia- making it to the finals. The final face-off between the bands was held in the city yesterday in front of a live audience and was judged by

Arjun S Ravi (Editor of Indecision, co-founder of NH7) and Lalitha Suhasini (Editor Rolling Stone).

“We have a lot of unbelievable talent in India. I think within South Asia, in rock music, India has the most depth in talent. The NH7 Weekender has grown exponentially. In its first year (2010) 7-8,000 people attended it. This year we expect 25,000 people to attend the festival which is spread across 30 acres,” S Ravi told Radioandmusic.com.

Modern Mafia will perform at the ‘Fully Fantastic’ stage at Amanora and present their Indie-punk rock sound infused with Brit catchy pop sensibilities to attendees. “We were up against some really amazing bands and we decided to just come by and have as much fun as possible on stage. Pune has always been good to us. We have had three shows so far in Pune and it just keeps getting better. We love the vibe at the gigs. I guess it just worked out and kidnapping the judge's teddy-bears may have helped too,” Modern Mafia frontman Varun Das said.

Giving music enthusiasts an opportunity to showcase their talent on global platform, Bacardi NH 7 Weekender had organized the band hunt across NH7 Weekender venues- Delhi, Pune and Bangalore.  Alt-rock band ‘Caesars of the Green’ was the winner of its Delhi circuit. In the battle-of-the-bands contest, Caesars of the Green competed against the other three local bands namely Outdoorsman, Phobia and The Urban Early Men. The Bangalore band hunt dates are yet to be announced, while the fest is scheduled to take place on 15-16 December in Bangalore .
