NEWS Big FM signs syndication deal with US-based Asian FM

MUMBAI: After launching 31 FM stations across India in a year`s time, Big FM is now reaching out to international shores.

The FM station from the Reliance ADA Group has entered into a syndication agreement for non-music content with US based radio station Asian FM.

Big FM vice president business development Jayyant Bhokare said, "Starting 1 September, we will syndicate six to seven hours of non-music content to Asian FM. This agreement marks the foray of Big FM in the international arena and we are extremely excited to join hands with Asian FM. Our effort is to entertain the Indian diaspora, giving them the flavour of radio back home. We will tweak the contents according to the requirements of Asian FM."

Big FM plans to have similar tie-ups in the Middle East, Singapore and Africa as well.

The content to be aired is a mix of Hindi and English and will cover devotional, humour, romance, television, Bollywood and health based genres, said Bhokare.

Asian FM vice president Deepak Viswanath said, "When on the lookout for partners in India, we found philosophical synergies with Big FM, leading to a comfortable working relationship between the two companies. As Asian FM expands its audience base, we believe that the Big FM content will fit well within our existing program line up. I am sure that some of our listeners, which have not been to India for a while, will definitely find the content very progressive with cutting edge humour."Asian FM is a non-commercial radio station operational in Atlanta, Massapequa, University Park, Mount Prospect, Barker, Kemah, Hamtrack in the US.

It has programmes in languages of Urdu, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Malayalam and Kanada which includes bhangra, Bollywood, qawwali, ghazal, devotional, South Indian songs.
