NCPA to pay tribute to Indian music legends

MUMBAI: National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) is all set to pay a tribute to legendary Indian music composers from 6 to 8 July.

Celebrated composer Bade Ghulam Ali Khan’s works will be rendered by Ajoy Chakrabarty, while Malini Rajurkar will showcase some exquisite works of renowned vocalist Shrikrishna Ratanjankar. Saint poets Purandaradasa (Purandara Vitthala) and Thyagaraja are amongst the most revered composers of South India, whose works are regarded as seminal to the development of Carnatic music. Sudha Raghunathan will pay a tribute to them by singing their compositions.

The third day will see performances by Rajan & Sajan Mishra, who will present some of the works (khayal & tappa) of Ramdas Mishra alias Bade Ramdas. Girija Devi will conclude the fest by presenting the compositions of Shambhunath Mishra (Nath piya) and Shyamcharan Mishra (Shyamdas).
