NCPA to host Jus' Jazz 2012

MUMBAI: Bringing the flavour of traditional jazz, The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in association with Jazz Addicts has organized a three day international fest ‘Jus Jazz’ at the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre in Mumbai.

Commencing from 3 November, the fest will feature six international acts by renowned Jazz artistes like New York swing and bebop guitarist Russell Malone, who has played with the likes of Harry Connick Jr. The fest will also feature Diana Krall who will perform with his band, Jazz and blues vocalist Diane Witherspoon along with her trio, Igor Butman Sextet and Jazz band from New Orleans Modern Jazz Masters.

American pianist Helen Sung, who has previously toured India with the The lonius Monk Institute of Jazz will also perform with her quartet and drum maestro Lewis Nash. Rounding of the fest New York-based drummer Sylvia Cuenca promises to put forth an exciting array of live acts for the festival.

Russell Malone Quartet and Igor Butman Sextet will headline an act on 3rd November followed by New Orleans Modern Jazz Masters and Sylvia Cuenca Quintet on 4 November and Helen Sung Quartet and Diane Witherspoon Quintet on 5 November. The tickets for the fest are available at the NCPA box office in different ranges for Rs 2,000, 1,500, 1,000 and 800.
