Naga rock band nominated for MTV Europe Music Awards

MUMBAI: Nagaland rock outfit Alobo Naga and The Band has joined top Indian rock acts Indus Creed and Menwhopause for MTV Europe Music Awards 2012. The Dimapur (in North East India) based rock band's video single 'Painted Dreams' has been nominated under Best Indian Act/Worldwide Act.

The other Indian groups in the list are Bandish Projekt (Lover Ft, Monica Dogra), the iconic Indus Creed (Fireflies) and Menwhopause (Easy) and singer-songwriter Oliver Sean (So good final movie).

'Painted Dreams' was the official theme song of the first Guwahati International Short Film Festival (GISFF), 2011. The video was conceptualized and directed by Prithish and Puja Chakraborty from Creovaent Productions, Guwahati.
The song was also ranked among the Top 50 international music videos of 2011 by VH1. It also featured at number four in VH1's International Top 10 chartbusters.

"It's incredible; we are just speechless with the nomination. It's a proud moment for us and the entire northeast and especially for our musicians," as told by band vocalist Alobo Naga to an agency.

The Europe Music Awards - 'Worldwide Act Award' – category was introduced to include artists from 89 different countries. The winning act is decided from votes compiled on MTVEMA.com.

The Europe Music Awards 2012 for the has been divided into five regions for the Worldwide Act category - Asia-Pacific, Latin America, North America, Middle East-Africa-India and Europe. The final nominee from each region will be announced online on 30 October, 2012. These five regional nominees will then battle for the ultimate Worldwide Act title with the winner being announced at the Europe Music Awards night in Frankfurt. The award will air on VH1 in Novmber 2012.

The voting process has started in the MTV EMA 2012 official website and will end on 14 October. Fans can vote for their favorite Indian artist until 11.59pm.
