MySwar launches music app

MUMBAI: Music website MySwar.com has launched a music app for Android and iOS users, offering music lovers their favorite tracks on smartphone.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, MySwar founder Param Arunachalam said, “There are many websites providing music data but most of them lack accurate information. We at MySwar also provide information about contributors who work behind completing the song. We use links that are authentic and linked to official websites of the label company.”

Arunachalam further added, “We started working on the app from October and it just took three-four months to complete to it. Our major time went on getting the app up on various platforms.”

With only a team of five, Arunachalam has tried to give complete list of Hindi films from 1941 to present day and across almost 50 genres. The app provides detailed credits of not just music directors, lyricists and singers for each song but also assistants, arrangers, producers, recording engineers, studio, instrumentalists, etc. Users can watch YouTube videos for songs when available; end credits, awards, reviews and similar songs. For every song, a list of similar songs is shown based on genre and other musical attributes like mood and instrumentation.

“Collecting information on Bollywood is easy but compiling information of non-film projects is difficult. But we have connected our energy towards non-film. We are trying to get audience attention towards non-film music through our simple initiative; musicians who have sung film songs will have their list of non-film tracks also made available on our website,” he added.

MySwar app was developed with an aim to get organic growth. "People coming organically will check MySwar and if they wish they will stay or else will leave whereas in aggressive marketing many will rush to site and many might turn away. I want my users to stay even if that is a slow process,” he said.

The platform has no plans to expand on Blackberry. “It’s my own funds so there is a budget constrain for me to develop it on Blackberry platform. Usually, my team has observed that most of our traffic comes from Android and iOS which is yet another reason that we are not developing app for Blackberry,” he said.

The MySwar app is being launched as a free app for a limited time only.

MySwar.com is an Indian music discovery portal. MySwar has information for several decades of Hindi film music and a growing collection of non-film music.
