MUMBAI: IIFA for the very first time will be hosting a music workshop to showcase Indian music which is a major and unique facet of Indian Cinema. The workshop will be held on Saturday, 25th June. The workshop will feature an interactive session led by Vishal Bhardwaj, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Salim Merchant, where trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy will compose a song with the inputs and recommendations from the audience during the course of the day. Industry stalwart director and music composer, Vishal Bhardwaj will address a session on music being infused into films based on plot and scripts and how music composers multi-task into all components like background score, lyrics and music. The session will open with a brief history of Hindi Film music- its origins, uniqueness and integral role in films, and will explore the factors that come together to influence music for Indian Cinema. The workshop is also inviting students across Ontario, professionals and industry stalwarts to participate in a themed-based discussion – Music Bringing Cinema Alive. IIFA will take place from June 23–25, 2011 in Toronto.
