MUMBAI: As a tribute to the 'Muscle Man of India', renowned music composer Ravindra Jain has announced that he will name a section of his music academy after legendary wrestler-turned-actor Dara Singh who passed away on Thursday morning in Mumbai. The 83-year-old actor passed away at his home after suffering a cardiac arrest. The Ravindra Jain Music Academy is being constructed in Bhopal and Singh had donated Rs 10 lakh to the academy on 11 February 2008 when he was a Member of Parliament, states a release. Jain came close to the veteran actor while composing music for the famous television serial 'Ramayan' in which Singh played the role of Hanuman. Bollywood celebrities and people from all walks of society gathered to pay respect to the legend who was cremated in Vile Parle this afternoon. Besides family members, film fraternity members who were present include actor Rishi Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Tabu, Abhishek Bachchan, Farah Naaz, Sanjay Khan, Anu Malik, director Sajid Khan, actor-director Parmeet Sethi, actors Dheeraj Kumar, Jaspal Bhatti, Anoop Soni, Mahie Gill, Jatin Pandit, Dolly Bindra, Kapil Sharma, Mink, Surendra Pal, Arjun, Ranjit and Arun Bakshi and Raza Murad. Congress leader Kripashankar Singh was also present. ‘Rustam-e-Hind’, Dara Singh who made a mark in the world of wrestling, cinema and politics with a career spanning over five decades will always be treasured in the hearts of its aficionados’.
