Music director Ravi feted

MUMBAI: Noted music director Ravi has been chosen for the Devarajan Memorial Music award, in recognition of his contribution to Indian film music, says a PTI report.

Instituted in the memory of veteran Malayalam music director G Devarajan, the award carries a cash prize of Rs 80,000, a citation and a memento from the Kerala-based cultural forum Swaralaya.

Ravi was selected for the honour by a seven-member jury headed by state Culture Minister M A Baby.

In a career spanning over five decades, Ravi has left a deep impression in the minds of music lovers with hundreds of popular hits including those in the Guru Dutt- starrer 'Chaudhvi Ka Chand', the jury noted.

Ravi has also composed songs for a couple of Malayalam films which became instant hits.The award will be presented on March 14.
