MTV Video Music Awards 2011 record highest ratings ever

MUMBAI: MTV Video Music Awards 2011 delivered 12.4 million total viewers, making it MTV's most-watched telecast ever, according to the Nielsen Co.

MTV claims that the award show ranked as the cable network's biggest audience in history. It's the number one non-sports telecast of the year, with the VMAs delivering a 10.8 rating and 8.5 million viewers in the network's target 12-34 demographic. The VMAs were up nine percent from the 2010 show in total viewers. MTV Digital also had VMA content drawing two million unique visitors, a 33 percent increase over last year.

The VMAs last year saw the most significant leap in viewership, with 11.4 million viewers, the biggest since 2002.

Katy Perry, Adele,  Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Tyler, Britney Spears, Beyonce Knowles and others were the winners at the 28th MTV Video Music 2011.
