MTV to premiere Unplugged series in India
MUMBAI: After launching Coke Studio in India, MTV is set to experiment with another popular international music property �Unplugged', showcasing performances by popular artises in an unadulterated and non-tampered form with acoustic music.
�Micromax MTV Unplugged' will feature gamut of popular bands and singers like Indian Ocean, Rabbi Shergill, Rekha Bhardwaj, Mohit Chauhan, Susheela Raman, Advaita, Euphoria, Javed Ali, Shilpa Rao, and many more. The show will also feature behind-the-scenes and interview footage interspersed with the performances.
MTV Unplugged music producer Ranjit Barot said, With Micromax MTV Unplugged we intend to take popular artistes in a raw and acoustic musical environment and present them to the television screen of the Indian audiences. An eclectic mix of artistes will be seen and heard showcasing their talent and I am sure the audience will enjoy this new avatar of their favourite artistes....
Speaking to Radioandmusic.com, MTV India channel head Aditya Swamy stated, Unplugged presents music in its purest form as it is acoustic, pure and soulful. The artistes, songs, setting and even instruments have been carefully hand picked to give rich music experience. Unplugged will be driven by multi-media distribution and marketing program to give fans a chance to acquire unique content....
When asked about the channel's increased interest in music shows, he explained, The music industry is evolving as the flavor of music is changing. New artistes are bringing raw and fresh sound to the industry. Directors, composers, labels and audiences are opening up for these changes. So, through Unplugged, Coke Studio and Roots we are trying our best to bring this music to the audiences....
Micromax MTV Unplugged will premiere from 1 October, 8 pm.
