MTV hunts for VJs through Idea MTV VJ Hunt

MUMBAI: After years of churning out popular VJs on television, MTV is back with its VJ hunt contest.

Calling everyone who is above 18 years of age, Idea MTV VJ Hunt is set to kickstart in Mumbai from 5 December and will round up the contenders from Chandigarh, Delhi, Lucknow, Kolkata and Bangalore on 8, 11, 14, 18, and 21 December respectively.

Started in 1999, the contest is back on air after seven years. MTV VJ Hunt has discovered talents including Nikhil Chinappa, Malaika Arora, Cyrus Sahukar, Sophie Chaudhary, Shenaz Treasurewala, Rannvijay apart from host of others.

After going though thousands of profiles in the audition phase, the shortlist would be down to 100 contestants. These shortlisted contestants will be made to do various tasks over three weeks on mtvindia.com. Based on their performance, the list would be brought down to 10. The 10 finalists will compete on-air by hosting various MTV shows in the VJ Hunt Week, open to public voting. The Hunt would culminate with a grand on-air finale where the winners of the Idea MTV VJ Hunt 2009
would be announced.

The auditions would be held at �MTV Studios-Parel' in Mumbai on 5th December, �Punjab Kala Bhavan-Sector 16' in Chandigarh on 8th December, �British Council' in New Delhi on 11 December, �Lal Bahadur Shastri Auditorium' in Lucknow on 14 December, �Bhawanipore College' in Kolkata on 18 December and �St. Joseph's Indian High School' in Bangalore on 21 December.
