MUMBAI: As India gears up to celebrate the 65th year of its independence, bollywood singer Mika has re-created the national song Vande Mataram for a special show to be aired on Life OK. The special track commemorating the memories of war heroes will be aired on 12 August between 5-8 pm as part of ‘Azaadi’, a tributary series of episodes on the real meaning of Independence. Mika has created a fresh melody which is peaceful yet celebratory. On the day of the shoot, Mika was accompanied by 500 CRPF Jawans singing and dancing to his tunes. He also interacted with the Jawans and their families and heard their heart melting stories on the war fronts. Mika said, “My tribute to Vande Mataram is introspective. It is an honour to re-create a song of national importance. I am glad that Life OK has bestowed this honour upon me and I hope that I do justice to the original melody.” The special episodes will be hosted by TV actress Riddhi Dogra and will also feature Neha Dhupia at the LOC on 13-14 and there will be a grand finale on 15 August to be hosted by Irfan Khan, featuring performances by television actors on patriotic songs. Apart from the show, Mika will also be seen displaying his skills as an actor in the film ‘Balwinder Singh Famous Ho Gaya’ to be directed by Sunil Agnihotri. The film will also features leading playback singer Shaan in a pivotal role. The movie will be produced by Sunil Agnihotri Productions and Vandana Motion Pictures Pvt Ltd. The shooting of the film is slated to begin soon.
