Meow FM COO Anil Srivatsa quits

MUMBAI: Anil Srivatsa, COO of Radio Today Broadcasting that operates FM venture 'Meow' has quit the comany.

Radio Today director Anil Mehra confirmed Srivatsa's exit, but declined to comment on who would succeed Srivatsa to helm Meow FM. Meow FM has a presence in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata.

Citing personal reasons for his resignation, Srivatsa states, "I have had a recent emergency in my family and have decided to move on and spend some time with them in Bangalore. However, I will continue to explore similar assignments within the entertainment and media space."

Radio Today is the FM radio arm of the India Today Group that operates under the brand name Meow FM. A veteran broadcast professional, Srivatsa returned from the USA to conceive the idea of a talk format radio station targeted at women in 2006.

Srivatsa hosted the largest syndicated South Asian radio show in the US ÔÇ?Anil Ki Awaaz', which earned him a place in the Limca Book of Records, before he moved to India three years ago. He held the position of executive vice-president of ImaginAsian Entertainment Inc, a US-based entertainment company before taking over as Radio Today COO. At Meow, Srivatsa hosted the late night talk show Between The Sheets, which talked about the softer side of a woman - her sexuality, sensuality and the various problems she faces. Srivatsa dubbed it 'talk therapy'.

During his 17 years in the US, Srivatsa also served as CEO (USA) and Head of International Marketing Operations at RTV UK, where he successfully launched several South Asian networks in Europe and the Middle East. Prior to his stint at RTV UK, Srivatsa was Director of Cricket and South Asian Programming at Kelly Broadcasting, where he oversaw the creation and development of the Cricket Channel.
