Menwhopause to perform at Tihar Jail

MUMBAI: Contemporary Indian rock band Menwhopause will perform a live gig at Tihar Jail on Wednesday 21 December.

Menwhopause has been conducting regular workshops inside the prison over the past couple of weeks for inmates who are musically inclined. The band has also convinced two of Delhi's prominent music stores, Bharat Music House and Onstage Music to donate a guitar and a drum set respectively.

Speaking on the rare performance, Menwhopause said,... The idea is not just to perform our songs and leave but to have a more interactive session with the inmates. When we first visited the prison, we met some inmates who call themselves The Flying Souls' jamming in their music room. Most of them are either under trials or convicted and have been around for a while and seem to be spending their energies on music. Even though they are not professional musicians, they have actually written a few brilliant songs. What we figured was that instead of simply playing our set list, we should be spending our time getting their songs and musical expressions out....

The event will include songs and performances by inmates The Flying Souls' and an interactive musical with Menwhopause.
