MUMBAI: Rock singer-songwriter, guitarist and activist, Melissa Etheridge has been added to the performers' list for the Times Square New Year's Eve 2014 in New York. The 'Come to my Window' singer will take the stage with her rendition of John Lennon's 'Imagine' along with her new single , 'Uprising of Love'.

Etheridge will be sharing the stage with ex-Disney star Miley Cyrus, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Blondie, Icona Pop, Jencarlos Canela, El Dasa and Rodney Atkins. Her set list will include hits like 'I'm the only one' and 'Bring me some water'. The most awaited celebration will be opened by a Chinese cultural performance, complete with Kung Fu and a colourful fan-dance at 6 p.m. EST and will also feature an exclusive trailer of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Through the course of the night, a video of New Year wishes from Stan Lee, co-creator of Spider-Man and the movie's cast members will be displayed as well.

The veteran rocker's new song was composed for Uprising of Love, a movement co-founded by her to support Russian organisations working for long-term change in the status and treatment of the LGBT community.

Etheridge's tenth studio album, Fearless Love, received mixed reviews and was seventh on the Billboard 200 on the 2010 chart.
