MUMBAI: Informate Mobile Intelligence, a valuable service provider in the telecom industry recently took a deeper look on multimedia as a category and has provided vital insights on mobile entertainment and media usage by consumers on Smartphone’s.

The study was conducted for the month of June 2010 and the agency revealed certain significant facts about multimedia usage by day-part on Smartphones. 

The report states that prime time for listening to radio is night and late afternoon. About 22.4 % of the entire radio usage happens in the night and around 18.7 % in the late afternoon. 

Duration per month spent listening to radio application on Smartphones is 64 minutes. 

Media player usage is maximum at night. Music enthusiasts prefer listening to media player mostly at night (24%) and in the afternoon (16.7%).  

Duration per day spent listening to media player applications is 31.87 minutes. 

YouTube is the top video –related website browsed on mobile. Cellufun is the top entertainment and fun site in terms of reach followed by Santabanta. 

Informate uses Smartmetres, on-device metering technology to capture actual usage on Smartphone’s. With the high rate of innovation in handset features and upsurge of VAS services, the agency taps the user behavior and preferences towards these products and services. This data is then aggregated to generate reports on real-time mobile usage.

This portal enables telecom industry professionals to access a sample of SmartPhone usage in India that includes information on Communication, Multimedia, Games, Web Usage, Social Networking and Online Trading. Users can view interesting data which is bifurcated in various sections.
