Marathi rock band Moksh produces music for upcoming film

MUMBAI: Moksh, India's first Marathi rock band has produced a romantic song 'Kuni Achanak' for the upcoming Marathi film, 'Vaadhdivasachya Hardik Shubhechcha'. The song is written by lyricist Manndar Cholkar and is sung by National Award winner Bela Shende and Hrishikesh Kamerkar.

Bass guitarist Sagar Joshi spoke to Radioandmusic.com about the composition of the sole song for the film. Along with film director Deepak Naidu, the band ideated the song, which fuses commercial music with rock. Joshi said, “We feel privileged to have been asked to compose for a film. In addition to taking on the feat of composing a romantic song, we saw it as an excellent opportunity to make the people aware of Moksh. Through the medium of commercial music, we want the people to be exposed to Marathi rock music.”

The band consists of Rigved Karambelkar (vocalist), Jimmy Alexander (guitarist), Shreyas Joshi (drummer), Pushkar Kulkarni (keyboard player) and Sagar Joshi (bass guitarist).

The film chronicles Subodh Kudmude, who strikes a fortune on one of his birthdays and becomes a millionaire overnight and is elated. He starts believing that this is an end to his financial struggle and the life ahead is all smooth; however it does not last for very long as he receives a few freebies that include a troublesome inspector, an annoying NGO agent, a South Indian Don and a dead body that claims to be Subodh Kudmude.

The film is written, directed and co-produced by Deepak Naidu, well known for 'Eat Sleep Films Repeat' and hit theatres Friday, 22 August.
