Malkit Singh to launch two albums after four years

MUMBAI: After taking Bhangra music across shores and receiving various accolades for his talent, Punjabi singer Malkit Singh is set to launch two new albums for his fans. For the last four years, the ‘Gur Nalo Ishq Mita’ singer has been busy touring and working on the lyrics and music of his two albums that will be finally launched this year.

The first album ‘Sikh Hunda Mann’ will release in the second week of June. Earlier, it was slated to release on Baisakhi last month.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Singh said, “There were many albums that were released on Baisakhi last month, so we decided to launch it later in June. The album comprises of nine devotional songs and one shabad.”

He also completed the video of his second album - ‘Midas Touch 3’. This album will be launched in a span of three- four months. “This year two albums have been planned out and completed. But actually, I am waiting to release ‘Sikh Hunda Mann’ then only I will release the other album. In India, we are still in talks with a company to launch them, but internationally especially in England things are sorted,” added Singh.

‘Midas Touch 3’ will again feature 10 tracks encompassing bhangra music. Singh and music composer Ravi Bal have collaborated again for their fourth studio album together.

He further added, “I am launching my tracks after four years. I wrote the tracks and did live shows during this time.”

Singh had released the first version of ‘Midas Touch’ in 1994, which did well amongst the audiences, after which ‘Midas Touch 2’ was launched in 2003. In the past the singer has earned widespread acclaim for his popular track ‘Gur Nalo Ishq Mita’ which became a rage in the booming pop era. Apart from that, Singh also has a few honours in his name like being the first Punjabi singer to be honoured by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace with the award of Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in 2008. In 2012, he was again honoured with a star on the Birmingham Walk of Stars.
