MUMBAI: Composer Loy Mendonsa of the famous musician trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy has collaborated with the Bangalore-based folk rock band Swarathma' for their second album. Mendonsa assisted the band throughout the 11 tracks of the album, which are based on several themes from corrupt politicians to media-led mind control. The composer has also helped the band in translating the live performance element into their recordings. Speaking about the band Mendosa said, They are a great live band with a lot of colours and a nice Indian touch to the performance; I have always liked the kind of songs they have written and the social messages their lyrics carry. I have tried to bring in the theatrical angle of their performance into the album.... Ecstatic on working with Mendosa Swarathma's guitar player Varun expressed, Every day with Loy, from the songwriting workshop we did in Bangalore to the times in the studio with him have been filled with learning.... The untitled album is slated to release later this year. Swarathma had launched their self titled debut album with eight original compositions, seven Hindi and one Kannada on EMI Music in 2009. The band comprises of Vasu Dixit (vocals and rhythm guitar), Pavan Kumar KJ (percussion and backing vocals), Montry Manuel (drums), Varun (lead guitar), Sanjeev Nayak (violin) and Jishnu Dasgupta (bass guitar and backing vocals).
