London Olympics artists reap games afterglow on pop charts

MUMBAI: The afterglow of the London Olympics 2012 is bathing the artists who performed at the recently concluded global event.

British singer Emile Sande who performed at the opening ceremony has his album ‘Our Version of Events’ at number four in the top 200 list. Ed Sheeran’s album ‘+’ is lodging at number three and Jesse J’s ‘Who you Are’ is perched at number seven.

Rock band Elbow moved up as many as 133 positions after last Sunday's extravaganza to secure the sixth spot with their album ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’ that was released over four years ago, the Official Charts Company reported.

The Olympics payout extended to singles with 30 of the 66 songs charting in the top 200 list.

Rita Ora became the first artist of the year with three number one singles in a row in the UK chart  with her new release  ‘How we do (Party)’.

"It's really inspiring. I really appreciate all the support I've been getting from my fans and the media. This is already the best year ever," said the singer, whose debut album "ORA" will be released on 27 Aug.
