Live from Console to feature Nikhil D'Souza, indie-film 'The Untitled Kartik Krishnan Project'

MUMBAI: The 16th edition of Live from the Console will present a mix of indie-film and live performances.

The evening will kick off with a screening of independent film ‘The Untitled Kartik Krishnan Project’ (2010). The Hindi-English drama-thriller film has been produced and directed by independent filmmaker Srinivas Sunderrajan and shot on HDV in black-and-white. Touted as India's first Mumble Core film, it was shot entirely in Mumbai and screened at the 2010 Mumbai International Film Festival ‘New Faces of Indian Cinema’ Section and Transylvania International Film Festival in competition.

Dubai based independent pop singer Gayathri will follow with a solo recital that fuse Indian Classical with Western alternative music. The India born, Dubai raised and now London based singer/ songwriter has released two EPs and also conducted two self-funded tours of Europe. She is currently recording her first full-length album.

Alternative Indie band The Koniac Net (Indie rock) will perform songs from their recent album- ‘One Last Monsoon’. The album was primarily recorded in the songwriter’s David Abraham bedroom – and has gained airplay in the US, UK, France, Morocco, Australia, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Poland, Austria, Canada, Hungary, and Greece stations. After receiving numerous requests to tour internationally, the Koniac Net transformed from a one-man-project to a six-piece band in June.

Local guitarist/singer-songwriter Nikhil D’Souza (Indie/pop) will also play a set from his repertoire of eclectic alternative pop and folk influenced songs. D’Souza has successful balanced his indie-music with and Bollywood projects. His live gig resume includes performances in Australia, Singapore, Ukraine and more. Hard to categorize,

The event will take place on 25 August at Mehboob Studios, Bandra.

Live from the Console is a collaborative effort between Day 1 - a Sony Music Independent and Oranjuice Entertainment. It gives new bands and fresh talent an alternative platform that puts music first while bringing together like-minded people.
