Leo Burnett radio ad bags bronze at Spikes Asia 2012

MUMBAI: Leo Burnett's 'Punishment' for Strand Book Stall, the sole radio entry from India, has picked up the bronze metal at Spikes Asia Festival 2012. The leading creative advertising competition has announced its winners with India bagging a total of 47 metals in 16 categories.

The Grand Prix in the radio category was bagged by JWT Singapore for 'Lux Soap'. Malayasia's McCann WorldGroup bagged six gold metals for 'Breast Cancer Awareness' for BFM Media.

The winners were announced in Singapore where ten juries chose 397 winners from an initial 4,860 entries. The festival witnessed around 1800 delegates from 27 countries across the globe this year.

A record number of entries were submitted this year totaling 4,860 from 23 countries, an overall 33 per cent increase as compared to last year. Amongst the top countries participating was India which submitted a total of 694 entries across the 16 categories.

The Media category witnessed an Indian agency Mindshare Mumbai bag the Grand Prix for Hindustan Unilever's product titled 'Where What You Grow Is What You Eat'. A total of nine metals were bagged by Indian agencies in the category.

Notably, there was no Indian winner in this year's Branded Content & Entertainment, Direct, Integrated and Mobile categories.
Indian winners in other categories included Creative Effectiveness (one), Design (one), Digital (two), Film Craft (seven), Film (one), Media (10), Outdoor (seven), PR (four), Print (four) and Promo (one).

The fest also announced the winners of the Young Creative Spikes Competitions. India took the gold medal in the Young Spikes Media Competition, while Hong Kong bagged gold in the Young Spikes Integrated Competition. The new Agency Shoot Out Competition saw The Philippines picking up the gold medal.

The ceremony also witnessed special awards being given out to BBDO which was presented with the Network of the Year trophy, DDB Sydney was honoured with the Agency of the Year, The Independent Agency of the Year was awarded to PARTY Tokyo with Taproot Mumbai in second spot, The inaugural Spikes Palm award given to the best Production Company was bagged by Exit Films Melbourne, The Media Agency of the Year trophy was awarded to Mindshare Mumbai and the prestigious Advertiser of the Year accolade was presented to P&G Asia.
