MUMBAI: With an aim to increase LM label’s catalogue with high quality content, LM Music within four months have launched eight albums and will be launching few more albums in coming months. This is only one quarter of its plans, as the record label aims to promote non-film music and independent artistes also through concerts and by hosting workshops.

LM also plan to launch a reality show for new artistes and talents, giving them a platform to launch their work on the label and promote their work.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, LM Music chief executive officer Mayuresh Pai said, “We already focused on devotional music and now we are looking at classical and Sufi. From 24 April, we will be launching classical CDs. We are launching Sufi music by May and soon we will introduce many genres. Hridaynath Mangeshkar and Lata didi will sing in this Sufi album, that is still under process.”

With a series of promotion plans lined-up like reality show, tours, workshops and contest, Pai aims to get the audience aware of LM Music. “Right now, we are planning of conducting a ground level competition and select the artistes. Anybody can give auditions and we will promote them. Meanwhile, talks about the reality show is still on as we are discussing about the structure of the show.”

With years of experience, Pai aims to promote the label company for the artistes and to maintain the transparency. “We are concentrating on making our catalogue bigger and then we will start working on the strategy. We are happy with the sales and response we are getting from the artistes. Big artistes have been coming to us because of their faith on didi (Lata Mangeshkar).”

When asked about the selection process, he adds, “Didi listens to every CD that we select and then gives approval and selects artistes.” LM was officially launched in January 2013. We hope that the nightingale of India helps in bringing some kind of difference in the functioning of music labels today and succeeds in discovering the best singing talent.
