Kids and teenagers are primary audience in India: Vishal Dadlani

MUMBAI: After Marathi film Balak Palak, renowned composer duo Vishal–Shekhar are all set to deliver music for teenager based Karan Johar's upcoming film - Gippi. Lately, the duo who have been involved with kids be it judging India Idol Junior or composing tracks for kids-based films, said they have done it all without any planning or thought.

“Kids and teenagers are currently the primary audience in India. It is not our strategy or any organized way of doing something for teenagers. We make music for our own enjoyment and who ever likes and enjoys our music we thank them for loving our music,” said Vishal Dadlani while speaking with Radioandmusic.com.

Gippi is an upcoming drama film directed by Sonam Nair and produced by Karan Johar. The film features Riya Vij and Taaha Shah as main characters.

“We have tried our best to give hit music for the film as we want people to watch this film that carries a beautiful message,” Dadlani added. The plot of the film is based on a 14-year-old girl who is chubby and realizes that she doesn’t needs to try to fit in between others; but if she loves herself everyone will love her. “It’s an important lesson for  kids and it is wonderful to be involved in such projects,” said Dadlani. The composer has earlier composed for films like Bhoothnath where a kid was the central protagonist.

Currently, the talented duo composers are also judging the first edition of Indian Idol Junior accompanied by Shreya Ghoshal. Sharing his experience, Dadlani said, “It is really neat and simple for us to judge the show as the kids are true and are not thinking about the fame and money. They are here because they love music and are very happy to sing in front of us. It is very wonderful and refreshing for us. It mostly helps us re-connect with our music.”Kids aged between 5-15 years are participating in the show.
