Karthik calling Karthik lacks gripping background - Music Check on 70 mm

MUMBAI: Shankar Ehsaan Loy's above average music complements the flow of the film as most of the tracks are situational. In their Bollywood debut, Midival Punditz and Karsh Kale demand attention with their background score but the trio could have delivered better. At some places, the background literally â€?stands out' and fails to blend with theme

The film starts with the title track Karthik calling Karthik... as a background score to the opening credits. The track is perfectly woven with the credits figuring out like numbers and then converting into alphabets

The dance number "Uff teri adaa" with Shankar and Alyssa Mendonsa crooning the number is well shot with Farhan portraying the somber guy and Deepika the extrovert chick. It is an upbeat track with the couple showcasing some funny antics making the video more entertaining

Midival Punditz and Karsh Kale were roped in to create the back ground score of the film and manage to do a fair job. Their intense buzzing background score when the character receives a call from his namesake enhances the thrill for the audiences. The transformation that the lead character Karthik undergoes is depicted through progressive rock guitar strumming piece in the backdrop

Hey ya! with Loy Mendonca, Shankar Mahadevan and Clinton Cerejo behind the mike is a catchy number. This number tracks the growing fondness between the lead characters when Farhan tries to woo his office girl. Jaane yeh kya hua... is yet another romantic number capturing the beautiful moments between the couple

Kaisi hai ye udaasi..., one of the best tracks in the album rendered by Kailash Kher and Sukanya Purkayastha figures in the latter part of the movie. The track surfaces when Farhan is out on hibernation trying to run away from his namesake and the couple reminisces memorable moments spent together. This track forms an important part in the film as it transcends the lead character into new beginnings. Kailash Kher's soulful vocals are an asset for the track

The heavy percussion instrumental piece Karthik 2.0... could have been better utilized in the film and although a good piece in the album goes wasted.
