Kabir Festival 2nd edition kick-starts from 17 Feb

MUMBAI: Kabir Festival, a folk music fest is back in its second edition featuring artistes from different parts of India. Commencing from 17 February, the three-day music fest will be held in Mumbai.

The fest aims to spread the message of saint Kabir through live folk music and story telling sessions. Folk artistes like Prahlad Tipanya (Madhya Pradesh), Mooralala Marwada (Kutch), Mukhtiyar Ali (Thar) and Bhanwari Devi (Rajasthan) will perform at the event.

The advisory committee of the festival comprises of eminent personalities such as Nandita Das, Javed Akhtar, Kailash Kher, Anand Patwardhan, Dolly Thakore amongst others.

The Kabir Project is a six year initiative undertaken by film-maker Shabnam Virani. Travelling with folk singers spreading the message of Kabir in different styles, the film-maker developed this project which has formed the base of the festival organised in different parts of India.
