MUMBAI: Teen-pop sensation Justin Bieber’s latest R&B single ‘Boyfriend’ has broken the YouTube record for most views in a day.

The music video unveiled on 4 May has garnered over eight million views on the site within 24 hours and a total of 19mn hits since then.

“2 days and over 12 million views!! Good way to end the day. Thanks,” he tweeted over the weekend.

The debut track from  new album ‘Believe’ is a step away from the singer’s clean-cut image and features shots of the star racing fast cars and partying with friends. The album is slated to release this summer.

The singer’s official YouTube channel received over 26mn views for his Christmas special single ‘Mistletoe’. Bieber also holds the world record for most popular single video on YouTube, ‘Baby’ with almost 650mn views.
