JLo, Lionel Richie join British Summer Time fest lineup

MUMBAI: Popular singers Jennifer Lopez and Lionel Richie have been signed up to culminate the Barclaycard`s British Summer Time festival 2013 on 14 July at Hyde Park, London.

The 10 day festival will witness performances by Bon Jovi, who will open the event on 5 July. Elton John was announced as the headliner for 12 July, with performances by Ray Davies and Elvis Costello.

Rockers Bon Jovi and the Kaiser Chiefs will play on 5 July, while The Rolling Stones bring in their 50th anniversary celebrations on 6 and 13 July.

The fest will eventually culminate with the latin songstress and ‘Hello’ singer. They will also be joined on the main Great Oak Stage by funk legend Nile Rodgers, fronting his seminal dance outfit amongst others.

AEG Live promoter spokesperson Rob Hallett said, “I can`t think of a better way to close our event in Hyde Park than with Heart in the Park. Lionel Richie and Jennifer Lopez in one night would be enough but when you add Nile, the rest of the supporting cast and Heart radio presenters, it is the stuff that legendary night is made of.”

The fest will promote music, art, film and sport in various forms. Other performances lined up include Chic, Eliza Doolittle, Stooshe, Beverley Knight, Delilah, Angel, Incognito and Charlie Brown. The acts will be spread over The Village Hall stage, the Barclaycard Unwind Theatre and The Bandstand, which will be renamed The Funkstand on the last day.
