Jeweller sues Sean Kingston over unpaid jewellery bill of $200,000

MUMBAI: There is no doubting Sean Kingston has a love for bling, but it might be the reason behind his latest problem now. According to reports, the R&B singer is being sued by Avi "Da Jeweler" Davidov, a New York jeweller, who alleges Kingston owes him about $200,000.

Reports state that the jeweller, who has worked with a number of stars, has filed a suit against the 24 year old singer/songwriter in a Manhattan court. Davidov has stated that the ‘Beautiful Girls’ singer, between 2008 and 2013, had ordered jewellery worth $200,000. However, he has not yet paid the jeweller for the pieces.

Among the jewellery that Kingston has yet to pay for is a diamond encrusted watch that costs about $35,000 and a custom designed, yellow and white diamond pendant and watch combination, with the singer’s initials which is said to cost a whopping $150,000. Kingston is also said to have a $12,000 ring that was loaned to him, which the jeweller alleges was never returned.

Apparently, the suit that Davidov filed states that the Jamaican-American singer had written him seven cheques in total through the years, however, they have all bounced. In spite of not being paid, the jeweller continued doing business with the ‘Dumb Love’ singer because they have a “personal and close relationship".

Davidov is seeking $240,000 as payment for the jewellery and an additional million in punitive damages.

Kingston, who has had a few hits and collaborated with some big names in music like Chris Brown and Justin Bieber, is said to be having money problems of late. Earlier this year the singer has had three of his cars repossessed- a Bentley Mulsanne, a Mercedes G-Class and a Lamborghini.
