Jeremy Loops coming out with debut album

MUMBAI: South African-based one man folk-band musician Jeremy Loops has completed his second EP and now he is working towards creating his debut album that will be available for the last quarter of this year.

Loops, who is also the co-founder of 'Greenpop' have named his debut album ‘Trading change’ which will focus on to bring change in society. “I have given this name, because there are multiple reasons- but one reason is that, I spend most of my time in my organization ‘Greenpop’ where we  plant trees in schools that are in impoverished areas,” Loops told Radioandmusic.com.

He further added, “In South Africa probably like India, there is a huge divide between very wealthy areas and very impoverished areas. This is a very clear divide between the two. In schools, that comes under these impoverished areas we plant trees. And my new album talks lot about this change and social development. My album will be encouraging people to find their personal power, realizing their dreams and incorporate something that they love  doing in life.”

He is planning to release his second EP ‘Tiding you over’ soon. “In new EP, I have tried to get band like sound using traditional instruments like brass and drum. This EP will tide my audiences over before my album is out,” he said.

He strongly believes that local artistes should always be encouraged by the locals. “Locals should support their own band as one can never know from where talent will come. In South Africa, the audience give huge support to bands outside Africa but no major support is given to their local band or music. During my performance in Delhi, I had told the audience that local bands of India should always be encouraged.”

Recently, Loops had performed in Delhi and Mumbai which was his debut performance (in India). After which he was back to Africa, UK and USA tour. “Most of the African artistes do the mistake of performing in South Africa which is the economic hub of Africa or around the world in UK and US. My strategy is to diversify and go far and wide; and strongly spread my music across different countries of Africa," says 28 year old singer.

Speaking about the collaboration with different artist, Loops said, “I am fan of tabla and sitar music. I have been working with a tabla player who had studied in India under a maestro. Currently, I am looking forward to come back to India and collaborate with tabla players for my next EP or album.”
